Airport renovation with modular structures
There are many possibilities when it comes to deciding what type of construction is best for your airport renovation and expansion. Modular structures provide one possibility that allows you to keep your airport fully operational during the entire process.
Modular Airport Buildings
The uniqueness of modular structures means they can be built in a timely, cost-efficient manner, with customised solutions to match your needs.
As you begin to look at airport renovation or expansion, there are multiple areas to consider. These expansions should be as seamless as possible, and that’s where customisable modular structures come in.

You can expand or renovate your airport terminal with a modular structure in the following areas with minimal interruptions:
#1: Baggage Claims – Especially in smaller airports with limited baggage claim carousels, modular structures can add additional carousels. That way passengers experience a more efficient process in the airport.
#2: Waiting Areas – Attach a modular structure to the airport terminal which allows for a more spacious waiting area and an overall better traveler experience.
#3: Terminals – Modular structures are becoming essential features for airports not only looking to renovate existing terminals but also to build new ones.
#4: Hangars – Keep your aircraft in top condition by expanding your hangar to have a optimal space for repair and maintenance.
#5: Administrative or Security office – It’s essential to your airport’s success to have an established office for planning or overseeing your airport’s operations.
Why choose HR Structures?
Modular structures are advantageous because the specifications are planned out before the building process begins. Plus, modular structures are manufactured in a controlled environment, then sent to site for installation. Fewer people are required to have security clearances and constant monitoring, and the entire project minimises the need for any airport closures or adjustments to flight schedules. The building process reduces the amount of time spent onsite, while also minimising the size of the construction footprint required to complete the project. This applies to both the required site construction activities as well as the installation of the building modules.
For airports, this efficiency is crucial because the more disruptions you have in your airport expansion, the more revenue you will lose. With modular structures, you won’t have to close areas of your airport during the process and disrupt your passenger’s experience.
Whether it is for a permanent or temporary application, modular buildings can provide a seamless and natural extension of the airport buildings they are adjacent or connected to. Modular construction can also meet the requirements of building code requirements and certifications.
HR Structures deliver complete airport terminals, including passenger terminals, baggage handling and security systems. All terminals and passenger areas can be customised to include the necessary infrastructure to accommodate baggage handling systems, screening, video surveillance, counters, PA systems, furniture, fire detection and much more.
